Additional Details
The Bentley 6 1/2 Liter Gurney Nutting Saloon was dubbed the "Blue Train Special" for beating the Blue Train Express in a race from Cannes to Calais. The car had many "ahead of its time" features, such as 4 valves/two spark plugs per cylinder, aluminum pistons and an overhead camshaft. The engine head and block were cast in one piece, eliminating head gasket woes. The Gurney Nutting Saloon was a formidable racing foe, battling it out at LeMans and other race venues for several years. Its 6-cyl. engine produced 180 bhp and had a top speed of 84 mph. In 1930, believe it or not, that was fast.
